Guest Designer Project for OUAT on 1 April 2024 with my twist on Brown Bear book

purpose: this posting showcases my Guest Designer contribution to Once Upon A Time challenge blog that has a children's book featured each month as the theme/inspiration.

when: April 1, 2024 is the start date

what: instead of a brown bear or 1 of the other animals mentioned in the book, I decided to use a 'panda bear' as a substitution.

notes:

1. sandy beige/light kraft cardstock base = Art Skills/Crafter's Closet

2. pink, red, and white heart print paper = gift bag, bought on clearance after Valentine's Day; recycled/upcycled; originally 2 bags for $1 and marked down to 30 cents!!

3. panda bear with craft pieces = from a Valentine kit, bought on clearance (a total of 4 animals) $3 marked down to 90 cents!!!

4. blush pink with gold foil alpha letter tiles = Freckled Fawn

5. silver metallic glitter acrylic paint applied to "love" =

Welcome to Becca's Quest for Love and Country Creativity blog!

Purpose: this posting showcases my love for country living through my newish challenge blog called FarmQuest Country Christmas! The theme guidelines go by what I refer to as Anything Goes Country Christmas (think outside Christmas decorations and/or wintery season landscapes; winter weather elements such as snowflakes, snowy mounds, etc.)

Purpose: this posting features my owner/DT commitment for FarmQuest Challenge Blog

When: FQCB #40 turkey theme competition runs from November 14-27, 2023

What: Thanksgiving icons on my card includes a small turkey sticker and a half heart doily colored and inked and perimeter cut to look feathery

Notes:

1. ivory cardstock base cut to 5" x 7" = Neenah

2. napkin received in a swap

3. leaf, gold glitter mesh, gravy boat sticker, turkey sticker were decoupaged to recycled cardstock that was trimmed to 4" x 6"

4. a little strip of washi tape was added under the turkey after card was assembled

5. threads were coiled and inserted along the right edge near the turkey between the napkin art panel and the orange geometric paper

6. white half heart-shaped doily was enhanced with yellow highlighter first and then bits of light green and purple highlighters, then a pink gel highlighter, then colored pencils in dark brown, peachy brown; perimeter was cut every 1//4" in order to get a feathery/plumage look embellishment for the card/turkey theme

Sharing my OUAT August 2023 DT card based on children book It Feels Good To Be Yourself

Welcome to Becca's Quest for Love and Country Creativity blog! This posting showcases my love of teaching with my love for creative expression as well as a love for reading. Artisan blogger friend Deanne started Once Upon A Time one year ago with each challenge's prompt being a different children's book. 

WHAT: OUAT/ Once Upon A Time challenge blog; #13; "It Feels Good To Be Yourself"

WHEN: August 1- 31, 2023 (Newfoundland is 2 hours ahead of my CT/Chicago time zone so this is being released about 11 minutes early in my zone.) 

SHOW and TELL: inspired by the climbing greenery on each side of the book cover

1. base patterned cardstock has been saved in my stash since about 2010!!! I don't remember the vendor

2. light gray cardstock = Neenah

3. white cardstock = Pen + Gear

4. 2 stencil sheets with 1 for the butterflies and the 2nd for the vine and greenery

5. pencil tracing first; then outlined with 8 or 9 marker colors; finally color-filled with watercolor pencils (Marvy's Uchida)

Do you see the reverse layout basic colors and shapes? I went yellow instead of sunset yellow-orange. The base color is actually a light peach/flesh tone but the scanner light faded it. I've got less blue and more red than the original but when changing it from a circus clown being on the train engine to Santa with some present-laden sleds, having more red made sense.

What is the May 2023 choice pick? Deanne selected Bob Marley's song-based "One Love". 

When: starts May 1, 2023

1. Thickers/American Crafts = "60" and birthday ticket

2. Pen + Gear = washi tapes

3. Hampton Arts ? for the wood and gold 'love'

4. Memento ink pads

5. stash items for the remaining red glitter heart shape stickers, white cardstock (5" square) and bright green cardstock (6" square)

The colors of white and green became my main two and then the washi tape with the little color dots is my nod to all the other bright colors on the cover. Then the jumbo font size of "One Love" became my next inspiration to interpret. At first I thought I'd just use a #1 but then I thought of my sister's upcoming late May birthday and decided to make it her #60. I had the Thickers birthday to use and I liked that it was a large font. And the wood with gold "Love" was in my Valentines stash box waiting for me! Two red glitter heart shape stickers, some inking, a lime green and white washi tape are more stash items to complete my card.
