purpose: this post is for my growing love of transforming fantasy creatures/characters for lots of occasions in paper-crafting ---> Heart's Quest Fantasy challenge blog is the place to do that. 

when: competition #6 (June 1-30, 2024) has its main theme as anything goes fantasy and the June fantasy focus option is Fairy. There is a special bragging right badge presented to 1 DT-selected fairy entry. All entries are eligible for Overall Winner/Guest DT invite and the Top 3 Picks.

what : 

Project #1: anything goes fantasy choice of unicorn

and closeup: there is a pale pink/lilac on the tip of the horn and for the ears but my scanner lighting has faded; also a silver metallic crayon was used to color the body of the unicorn

notes:

1. image is a free coloring page type clipart

2. image is colored with a variety: alcohol markers by Arteza and Nuvo; watercolor marker for hooves and nostrils; silver crayon for unicorn body

3. blue cardstock scrap = Neenah

4. black cardstock base = Art Skills

5. metallic specialty papers = stash

6. silver foil lettering stickers = Freckled Fawn (I chose the word rest because I have several family members who are either declining due to age and/or healing from recent falling; hernia surgeries; etc.)

Project #2: June 2024 fantasy focus option of Fairy=

notes: mushroom house and fairy are Friday freebies from Mynn Kitchen's group on Facebook called "Blessed Crafters" and the 

sunflower digital print paper is a freebie from Sande Woodson and her group on Facebook called "Sande's Poema Card Making Community"

1. green cardstock base is 5" x 7" = Neenah

2. ivory cardstock  is 4.75" x 6.75" = Neenah

3. sunflower print paper was print to 5" x 7" but I trimmed it down to 4.5" square

4. brown ink pad for ink edging = Lawn Fawn

5. colored pencils for the mushroom house and then a lime green glitter paint pen applied to the windows/light

6. colored pencils for the fairy and then a lime green glitter paint pen applied to the wings

7. doily was received in a pack of them from Lauren Bergold and Stephanie

8. brown cardstock strip = Art Skills

Purpose: this posting showcases my owner/DT inspiration creations for HQFCB or TFATU as it was known in 2023 and prior. Since February, 2022 I've been trying to build my niches into the paper-crafting challenge blogland. Acquiring the ownership control of TFATU (The Fairy and The Unicorn) on Nov 11, 2022 I've been thinking how to rename this.

When: January 6, 2024; 1st Saturdays of each month is when competitions are started

What: Gnomes Gnoel Greetings hiding in plain sight Christmas card

*this is a fun twist on building a scene

Notes:

1. 4" x 6" white top-folded card; unknown; Amazon purchase

2. short pine tree stamp and leafy stem stamp = unknown; Amazon purchase NEW for me

3. base cardstock, squirrel + small plant + snowy white owl die-cuts = Frosted Friends collection from Fancy Pants Design= NEW for me

4. trail sign, 3 gnomes, and 'gnoel' stamps = Pixi Dust Designs

5. rich cocoa brown ink pad = Memento; used for all the inking and stamping; I added lots of smudging near each stamp placement to make it looked placed on the printed cardstock for a snowy landscape scene

PROJECT #2: new in 2024 TFATU/HQFCB will be having a monthly fantasy focus option and participants who make the focus option will be eligible for an additional bragging rights badge! January's focus is the Yeti/Abominable Snowman/Sasquatch creature.

TFATU #11.5 Midway Reminder DT for 20 November 2023

 Welcome to Becca's Quest for Love and Country Creativity blog!

PURPOSE: This posting will share a bonus inspiration project for The Fairy and The Unicorn challenge blog! I'm the owner/DT of TFATU for  a year now! That is hard to fathom. On November 11, I asked Lisa J about taking over the blog and she agreed that day and the rest is now recent history! I've got a wonderful artistic group of crafters from around the globe! There are changes coming to TFATU in 2024. The biggest will be a name change because I'm going to make it part of a Heart's Quest 'family' of challenge blogs. Heart's Quest Fantasy Challenge Blog or HQFCB is the name I've chosen. The blog banners and badges will still have the same character/creature options but instead of teal, the main color will be red. Other changes will be shared in December and again in January.

Welcome to Becca's Quest for Love and Country Creativity blog! I decided to do something non-seasonal for the anything goes fantasy theme challenge at TFATU. I chose to use a Cupid laser cut wood stick-on that I enhanced with neon-yellow and gold glitter paint pens. My first thoughts were to use pink, red or purple but since the floral photo collage had so many yellows and yellow-oranges, I went with a vivid yellow.

I didn't have to do much stash questing for this card due to a sweet junk journaling group crafter who sent me a mid-size manila envelope with a lots of scrap goodies! There was a folded fairy coloring book page in what she sent!! I couldn't believe it!! So, I opted to limit the size to a 4.5" x 5"approx. for the focal.

1. Pixie image; The Paper Shelter; I won prize money to TPS and selected this image; printed as black and white; colored with pencils; fussy cut in a cloud kind of shape

2. specialty textured paper from stash = 2 tones of blue cut into cloud shapes; outlining in blue marker and silver metallic paint pen

3. cupcake sticker = Dollar Tree

4. 'dream' is from a stencil sheet bought at Dollar Tree; Dream was traced with black ink pen first and then filled with the pinkish purple Memento ink pad; then the darker purple was added after shifting the stencil sheet about a 1/4"; finally the silver paint pen was used to fill in the gap; more silver added around the perimeter

5. the navy blue with stars cardstock = Away In A Manger collection from Echo Park

6. white cardstock scrap for the base.; about A2 size

This posting shares a bit of sweet love for heaven with this Caroling Angel image.

WHAT: TFATU or The Fairy and The Unicorn Challenge blog's May 2023 project

WHEN: 1st Saturday of May to the last day of May (May 6-31st); then June's will start on the 3rd

SHOW and TELL:

1. the base card is from CTMH card kit = gifted by a fab crafter friend

2. the frame die-cut = Prima Marketing (I did alter the center area from a light blue to a bit more light lavender blue to help it coordinate more with the ribbon and card base

3. the Caroling Angel digital image = I think this is The Paper Shelter; I've been a winner at a few challenge blogs during the past 6 months or so and have been able to pick out images from several companies!!

4. image is colored with a combination of markers and colored pencils

5. 2 doily pieces were overlapped behind the frame die-cut and then the french blue/lavender ribbon was wrapped and tied; then I did some DIY for the pine branches (a green lightbulb foam sticker was cut vertically in half and then the outside edges were cut on diagonal)
